Q: How much does it cost to become a coach?
A: $39.95 – Your sign-up cost. You will receive your Coach Kit, access to your Coaches Back Office, your own Coach Web Site, etc.
Then after the initial start up fee, $14.95 – Paid monthly for account maintenance (Coaches Back Office, Coach Web Site.)
The back office is a website that Beachbody provides for you that keeps track of your sales, team sales, customers, commissions, as well as some training, sales tools, and much more.
All you have to do is make one sale and you'll make your money back! Sell one P90X or one Shakeology and you already broke even! Anything else sold is purely profit you never had!
People want to get in shape! These products sell themselves!

Q: How much time do I have to dedicate in order to be a coach?
A: The amount of time you spend is completely up to you! When I first began, I was spending around an hour a day learning the ins and outs of the business. Now, a year and a half later, I spend anywhere from 4-7 hours a day. My phone is always going off with emails! The ammount of time you put into it will pay off. Trust me.
It took me about 3 months to start making steady sales! So stick with it, it will pay off!
Q: I have a full time job, do I still have time to be a coach?
A: Yes!Thousands of others have full time jobs as well as being a Beachbody Coach! Remember, you are your own boss! Whether you just want to spend an hour or so every night before bed on Beachbody or a few minutes on your lunch break - any time can turn into success! Never use the excuse of "I didnt have time" to not become a coach! There is no clocking in, its not a 9-5 job and you don't have to spend 6-8 hours a day networking! Will investing more time pay off in the long run, yes, but any time spent on Beachbody can spark up success!

Q: What if I’m not very knowledgable about fitness?
A: You don’t have to be a fitness expert to be a coach. I wasn’t when I first started. I’ve done a lot of research over the past year and a half to learn as much as I could about fitness. The best time to start is NOW! Motivate others through their journey to achieve extreme results like you have!

Q: Will I get the proper training?
A: Beachbody has an excellent training program called the Game Plan, which you will need to understand when you sign up to coach. I have also created my own training program to provide you the knowledge to be a successful coach. Q: What is P90X?
A: P90X is a 90 day home fitness program that will get you into excellent shape if you commit to both the diet and workouts! It’s the program that I have been using for 2 years that has gotten me absolutely ripped!

Q: Should I do Insanity before P90X?
A: Insanity is a very intense program and is usually taken on by people who have already completed P90X and looking to lose that last bit of fat. Insanity only involves body weight for resistance, and is mostly cardio based. If you wish to melt away fat and build insane endurance, then CLICK HERE and give Insanity a look!
Q: What programs have you used?
A: I’ve used P90X, Insanity and P90X Plus.
Q: I don’t really enjoy the Yoga workout. Can I substitute it with something else?
A: Yoga is very beneficial, and I recommend that you complete the workout. Yes, I agree, it can be a little boring. It increases balance, core strength, and flexibility. It’s an important workout if you’re looking to take your fitness to the next level. If you’re going to skip Yoga, substitute it for the X-Stretch DVD or possibly the Cardio-X DVD. I do not recommend skipping Yoga, and neither does Tony!
Q: Is it OK to do Ab Ripper X later in the evening instead of right after my workout?
A: You can do this if you really have to, but I don’t recommend it. By doing it right after your workout, you won’t have to worry about warming up or stretching again. Your body will begin to go into recovery mode after your workout so you’ll have to prep the body for a whole new workout if you don’t do it right after.
Q: I’m struggling with Ab Ripper X. Do you have any tips?
A: With ARX, make sure you complete all the reps, even if it means you have to pause 20 times! It will get easier and easier each week. Also, it’s important that you make sure you are using proper form for all the exercises. Breathe! Don’t hold your breath! And think, they are only 25 reps each! Come on now!
Q: I just finished P90X, now what should I do?
A: You have many options: (1) You could do another round of P90X. (2) You can move to the next level by purchasing P90X Plus, Chalean Extreme, or Insanity. (3) You can combine P90X Classic with other programs like P90X Plus or Insanity.
Q: I just finished Round 1 of P90X. How long should I wait before jumping into Round 2?
A: I recommend waiting at least a week or two in order to let your muscles completely heal. However, if you feel it’s necessary to work out during that “rest week,” then add in a light resistance day and/or a few cardio days as well. Then BRING IT all over again! Modify the moves to make them harder this time!
Q: Should I take pictures of my progress?
A: Yes! It’s important that you take all the necessary photos, preferably on Day 1, Day 30, Day 60, and Day 90. Here are the proper poses: front with hands down, front with hands on hips, front flex, back with hands down, back with hands on hips, back flex, side with hands down.
Q: What version of P90X should I do?
A: There are 3 versions: Classic, Lean, and Doubles. I recommend the Classic version for anyone who is looking to put on some mass and lose body fat. This version is very popular among the men, but many women enjoy it as well. The Lean version focuses mostly on cardio, and is popular among the women. Doubles is for all the crazy people who can’t get enough exercise! It involves doing an extra cardio workout on resistance days. I did doubles during the last phase of my first round in order to burn that last bit of body fat.
Q: Should I do Doubles?
A: Doubles is extreme. I followed the Classic version for the first two months and then switched to Doubles for the last month. Doubles is very demanding on the body, and it’s very important that you take in the proper pre and post workout nutrition.
Q: I’m a woman, will I gain mass with P90X?
A: This is a common worry that most women have. There is no need to worry because men develop muscle much easier than women. I have coached many women through the P90X Classic version who have gotten great results. My fiancé, Lindsay, is one of them.
Q: How many reps should I do?
A: If you’re looking to get toned, then focus on 12-15 reps, and if you’re looking to gain mass, 8-10 or 6-8 reps is best! Personally, I rep my pushups and pull-ups to failure!
Q: How can I stay motivated?
A: The main reason people give up on P90X is their lack of motivation! Stay motivated through the workout! Some great ways to help keep a positive mindset would be to find a workout buddy to help motivate, such as a friend, neighbor or a Team Beachbody Coach. One thing that motivates me the most is my iPod. After being through the DVD’s several times, I pretty much know the exercises and what Tony is going to be telling me. I will still watch them but I will have my iPod plugged up and BLASTING some great tunes to keep me going! Here’s one more motivational tip, know that in just 90days, basically 90hrs of hard work, your body is going to completely transform and the results you will see will BLOW YOU AWAY!
Q: How can I add bulk during P90X?
A: P90X is designed to tone you’re body and help you develop lean muscle. If you modify the moves correctly, you can successfully add some muscle mass as well. Ways to modify some moves would be doing such things as using a weighted vest during your pushup and pull up exercises, using heavier weight for all resistance exercises and focusing on repping till failure, with failure begin 8-10 reps.
P90X is designed with extreme cardio. Extreme cardio may slow the bulk process; therefore, I have seen people modify the P90X program by switching one of the cardio workouts with an overall weight training workout which they developed elsewhere. The most popular total body resistance/endurance workout I know of that will assist the bulk process would be the “300” workout. This workout was designed for the actors in the movie “300” to help them get in the best of shape in the shortest time possible. It’s a challenge workout, therefore, challenge workouts are not meant to be done everyday or every other day – moreso once a week or once a month to check your progress.
I have been adding alot of muscle mass with P90X and the "300 Workout" Challenge. Here is the schedule I follow to involve both P90X and the "300 Workout". If your not too sure what the "300 Workout" is, view the video below. Its the extreme challenge that the actors for the movie "300" used to get in the best of shape. Its moreso a goal setting workout and is NOT meant to be done more than once a week!

Q: What if I skip a day or I am sick and miss a day? Do I start the program over?
A:That’s okay. We’re human, we will make mistakes. Simply just continue the schedule as normal and make up the day you missed on your seventh day, your off day. If you miss more than a week due to an injury or an illness, I suggest either repeating that week or starting over (depending on how far along you are in the program.) It’s proven that it only takes 14 days of doing nothing to lose all your gains! So motivate yourself to stick to it for the 90 days! Come on now, its an hour a day! You can do that!
Just remember, your results are based on how much effort you want to put into this program!

Q: What supplements do you take?
A: Supplements that I used and recommend are Shakeology, the P90X Whey Protein (chocolate), P90X Recovery Formula. I use Shakeology as a meal replacement for lunch and occasionally as a post workout recovery drink. I always have it in the morning right after breakfast, too. You will see some amazing results with this product! Take the whey protein twice a day: once in the morning and right after you work out if you’re not taking the Recovery Formula. If you are, take the whey protein an hour after the workout. Take the Jack3d/NO Xplode about 30 minutes before your workout, and take the Recovery Formula directly following the workout.
Q: What is Shakeology?

Q: What is the Recovery Formula?
A: As you know, when you workout you are tearing your muscles. Immediately after you’re done with your training for the day, those muscles you used go into “recovery” mode and start rebuilding. In order to rebuild properly, they need protein and carbohydrates to carry that protein. They “feed” your muscles and allow them to make a better recovery and get stronger! It’s good to take this after both cardio and resistance workouts.
Q: Should I take the Recovery Formula after cardio workouts?
A: Yes, you should take the Recovery Formula after every intense workout! The only one I wouldn’t take it after is X Stretch.
Q: Should I take the Recovery Formula after I work out if it’s late at night?
A: Even if you work out late and go to bed shortly afterwards, you still need to take the Recovery Formula! The key to building muscles is giving them plenty of rest! The recovery formula will work magic while you sleep!
Q: Why is Protein a MUST HAVE?
A: Protein is the KEY in building muscle. No protein, no muscle. You’re going to want to do your best to take in 1-3g per pound of body weight a day. It may seem like a lot, but with the aid of protein shakes and a protein based diet, its quite simple.
I suggest taking a shake right when you roll out of bed, since your body is craving nutrients after a long night of fasting, take one post workout, as your body is entering recovery mode, and take one right before bed to prepare your body for a long night of rest. With those three shakes, that’s easily 100-150g of protein. As far as the rest of your protein, try eating grilled chicken, tuna, organic peanut butter, almonds and other protein packed foods.

A: I followed the Nutrition Guide as closely as possible, but there were some foods that I didn’t like, so I would substitute them with one’s that were very similar in nutritional value. It’s very important to get in the proper fat/carb/protein % every day. It should be 20/30/50 during Phase 1, 20/40/40 during Phase 2, and 20/50/30 during Phase 3. Those are just % of total calories. Q: Do you have any tips for gaining mass?
A: Protein! High Protein! I suggest 1 - 3g per pound of body mass! Also, the key in gaining mass is increased caloric intake and increased carbs! Be cautious though, doing this may cause fat storage around the love handles.
Q: I have been following the diet and workouts to a tee, but have not lost any weight (or even gained weight). Am I doing something wrong?
A: You have to remember that you are both burning fat and building muscle at the same time. You can’t base your results from what you see on the scale. Instead, you need to pay attention to the amount of inches lost and what you see in the mirror. I say, put the scale away and dont step on it til your 30 day markers! Seeing numbers will only stress you out - focus on the workouts, the rest will follow!
Also, if your gaining weight, remember this - MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT!
Q: I just started P90X. Do you have any good advice?
A: The best advice that I can give is to commit yourself to the Nutrition Guide! I tell all the people that I coach that your results are going to come from about 80% diet and 20% workouts. However, this does not mean you can slack on the workouts, because you still have to build muscle and burn calories to increase your metabolism, get stronger, and lose body fat.
Q: Is it OK to wake up in the morning and work out, or should I eat beforehand?
A: It is not necessary to eat anything before you workout, especially if you are doing it in the morning and crunched on time. The last thing you want to happen is cramp up because you ate something and didn’t give it enough time to digest. However, if you do have time to eat, like an hour, then eat a small simple carbohydrate like an apple. This will give you more energy during your workout. The most important time to eat would be AFTER your workout when the body demands simple carbohydrates and protein for recovery. You have about an hour span after your workout to eat or take your Recovery Formula.
Q: What is the difference between simple carbs and complex carbs?

Q: I’m a woman and worried about getting too muscular with P90X. Should I be worried?
A: The answer is NO! My fiance, Lindsay,followed the Classic version, which is a balance of both cardio and resistance workouts, and didn’t get muscular at all! She just lost a lot of weight and got very toned. Also, women don’t have anywhere close to the testosterone levels that men do, which make it much harder for them build muscle. If you focus on 12-15 reps, you will be fine! You will tighten the problem areas and tone the muscles rather than bulk and stretch.
Q: Is it OK to drink coffee?
A: I RUN ON COFFEE! There is nothing wrong with having a cup or two of coffee throughout the day. Caffeine actually speeds up the metabolism, and has been known to have positive affects on your workouts as well. Just about all the pre-workout supplements that you see on the market today have caffeine in them!
Q: I am having trouble reaching my protein mark for the day. What snacks can I add to increase my protein?
A: Protein Shakes will help that! I always recommend beef jerky, low-fat cottage cheese, and reduced fat string cheese.
Q: Is it OK to have a cheat day or cheat meal?
A: If you are going to “cheat” at all, I recommend it being only a cheat meal, not a cheat day, and make sure you only do it every so often, preferably just once or twice a month. If you have a cheat meal or cheat day every week, it will slow your results and you will become discouraged. It takes a lot of self-discipline to eat 100% clean, but with sacrifice comes great rewards.
Q: Can I stay on the Fat Shredder diet for longer than the first phase?
A: Yes! If you want to lose body fat and weight quicker, stick with the Fat Shredder Phase as long as you want. Both my fiance and I followed the Fat Shredder diet for pretty much our entire first rounds of P90X. However, if you hit a plateau while on the Fat Shredder diet, then move to the next phase.
Q: Is water really that important to my diet?
A: Water consumption plays an important role in the digestion of solid foods in the body. This digestion depends on a huge amount of water available for the whole process to take place.
Acids & enzymes in the stomach break the food down into a homogenized fluid state which can pass into the intestine for the next phase of digestion. In simple words water helps in breaking down what we eat, into energy and then in transporting it to the parts of the body where it is required.
Water is also used to fuel the muscles. Dehydration will slow the muscle building process and break down muscle tissue. I suggest 64oz of water during workouts! It may seem like a lot but during P90X, you’re going to sweat a lot of that out. If you’re falling just short in all your workouts, its usually due to dehydration.
Q: I just don’t have enough energy to complete my workouts. What should I do?
A: When you don’t have enough energy, it means you are not taking in enough carbohydrates during the day. One thing you can do is eat a simple carb about an hour before you workout. This should increase your blood sugar level in time for the workout, therefore giving you more energy.

Q: The Nutrition Guide wants me to take in 3,000 calories per day, but I think this is too much! Should I force myself to eat this many?
A: No! It’s never good to feel stuffed after you eat. Remember, you lose body fat and weight by burning more calories than you take in. However, eating too little could cause your body to go into starvation mode, in which the body holds on to fat and doesn’t let you burn it during the workouts. You have to find that happy medium to where you feel comfortable after every meal.

Q: Is it OK to drink alcohol while doing P90X?
A: Of course it’s ok to have a drink every once in a while! It’s important that you don’t over-do-it though. Drinks that are “healthier” for you are Rum and Diet Coke, Select 55, MGD 64, Bud Light, and Miller Lite, Remember though, alcohol has a lot of calories and can add up very quickly!
Make sure to BUST OUT the cardio the next day to sweat it all off! Stay hydrated, too - alcohol will dehydrate you faster than anything you could imagine!
Q: How can I avoid my cravings?
A: Avoid your triggers. "You crave what you eat, so if you switch what you're eating, you can weaken your old cravings and strengthen new ones," says Marcia Pelchat, PhD, of the Monell Center. This can happen pretty fast. For five days, her study volunteers drank bland dietary-supplement beverages. During that time, they craved fewer of their trigger foods. By the end of the study, the volunteers actually wanted the supplements instead. The first few days are always the hardest, and you probably can't completely eliminate your old cravings. But the longer you avoid your trigger foods, the less likely you may be to want them. In fact, you'll probably begin to crave the foods you eat, a real bonus if you've switched to fresh fruit.
Destroy temptation. If you've succumbed to a craving and bought a box of cookies or some other trigger food and start to feel bad while eating it, destroy it. "Don't just throw it away; run water over it, ruin it. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment that you've licked your binge," says Caroline Apovian, MD, director, Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center. Don't think about the money you're wasting. If the cookies don't go into the garbage, they're going straight to your hips.
Go nuts. Drink two glasses of water and eat an ounce of nuts (6 walnuts, 12 almonds or 20 peanuts). Within 20 minutes, this can extinguish your craving and dampen your appetite by changing your body chemistry, says Michael F. Roizen, MD.
Jolt yourself with java. Try sipping a skim latte instead of reaching for a candy bar. The caffeine it contains won't necessarily satisfy your cravings, but it can save you the calories by quenching your appetite, says Dr. Roizen. And the warm richness and ritual can distract you.
Let it go. Since stress is a huge trigger for cravings, learning to deal with it could potentially save you hundreds of calories a day. This will take some practice. You can try deep breathing or visualizing a serene scene on your own, or you can speed things up by buying one of the many CDs that teach progressive muscle relaxation. A good one is Relaxation/Affirmation Techniques, by Nancy Hopps.
Take a power nap. Cravings sneak up when we're tired. Focus on the fatigue: Shut the door, close your eyes, re-energize.
Get minty fresh. Brush your teeth; gargle with mouthwash. "When you have a fresh, clean mouth, you don't want to mess it up," says Molly Gee, RD, of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Distract yourself. If only ice cream will do, it's a craving, not hunger. "Cravings typically last ten minutes," says John Foreyt, PhD, of Baylor College of Medicine. Recognize that and divert your mind: Call someone, listen to music, run an errand, meditate or exercise.
Indulge yourself -- within limits. Once in a while, it's OK to go ahead and have that ice cream. But buy a small cone, not a pint. Try 100-calorie CocoaVia chocolate bars and 100-calorie snack packs of cookies, peanuts or pretzel sticks. The trick is to buy only one pack at a time so you won't be tempted to reach for more. And since even 100 extra calories can sabotage weight loss if you indulge daily, strike a bargain with yourself to work off the excess calories. A brisk 15-minute walk will burn 100 calories or so.
Plan or avoid. Vary your usual routine to avoid passing the bakery or pizzeria. If you know you'll be face-to-face with irresistible birthday cake, allocate enough calories to fit it into your diet.

Q: What equipment will I need with P90X?
A: You will need the P90X Pull-Up Bar and either resistance bands or dumbbells. Other equipment that helps, but isn’t completely necessary are the Yoga Blocks, PowerStands, and Heart Rate Monitor.

Q: Which do you recommend: the bands or dumbbells?
A: Both are very effective. However, if you travel a lot, it would be good for you to get the resistance bands, which can be easily packed away in your suitcase. Dumbbells are excellent if you’re looking to build a lot of mass.
Q: What range of dumbbells do you use?
A: I currently use a range from 10lbs to 75lbs, but started off using 10lbs to 30lbs.
Q: What if I struggle with pullups, should I still do P90X?
A: Yes. If you can't do one pull-up, just get up on the pull-up bar and slowly decline. Keep doing this for a while then start using your legs to push you back up. You will get stronger.
